As athletes, we focus intently on our training. We spend hours at practice, adding more time in the gym, work on technical skills, and mental prep. How often, however do we take a look at what we eat? I have overheard many athletes say “I eat chicken fingers and fries before games and I'm the best on my team" or "I've been drinking gatorade and eating a chocolate chip cookie before every practice for years" or even "I can't eat before a game-I get too nervous". What most athletes don't realize is that inadequate or poor nutrition will hurt performance.
